Are the products featured on your website tested on animals? Absolutely not. We have confirmed with each of our suppliers who have stated that none of their products are tested on animals. You say that your products have oil and beeswax in them, will this give me spots? This is such a hard question to answer because I believe that natural oils like Olive, Jojoba work with the skin and therefore don’t clog it up. In my experience, if I get a spot, it is either hormonal or to do with the fact that I have over indulged! What these products do very well is allow ailments from within the body come out on the skin, rather than be masked. Your products have lots of essential oils, what if I have an allergic reaction to one of them? All our products are tested extensively, however it is widely known that some essential oils may cause irritation to sensitive skin which can happen with any natural product. For this reason, if you think you may be sensitive to an essential oil, please choose products from the sensitive skin range, or test the product on a small patch of skin first just to be sure. Your skincare section of the website is divided up into skin type, how do I know what type my skin is? To be honest, this is something that you just know yourself – it is quite hard, I think, to tell someone else what skin type they have because I don’t know what your skin is like on a daily basis. A good guide for yourself is to work out what bothers you the most about your skin, ie if you think it is dry on a daily basis then go for a moisturiser that treats dry skin. What I would say is that just because your skin is dry now, it doesn’t mean it will be dry in a months time, so just keep an eye out and the good thing is, because the products don’t cost very much, it won’t break the bank to buy another moisturiser! If your products have no preservatives in them, what is the shelf life on them? This is a good question Mother Earth and Tui Balmes say that as long as their products are kept in reasonably dry conditions, unopened, their shelf life is a year. Once opened though, around 6 months. If there is such a short shelf life, how long is there left by the time it reaches the customer? We carry very little stock so that ideally the products get to the customer before too much time has passed. If we have carried a particular product for a reasonable length of time, we will let the customer know how long we think there is left on the shelf life. What are all the bad chemicals that your products claim to be free from? This is such a controversial question as there are huge arguments for and against ‘harmful chemicals’. The simplest answer is, take a bottle of shampoo, or soap or anything in your bathroom, look at the ingredients and type them into the internet. There is ample documentation on many of these ingredients which you can find out for yourself. However, in my opinion, I prefer to understand each of the ingredients in my products simply because then I have an idea of what good they are doing to my skin. It is a more positive way of looking at changing from everyday products, to ones featured on this website. I have eczema, can you recommend a product to help reduce the irritation? I am not qualified to be able to give out advice on any medical matters, however, I can give you my opinion. One of the most versatile and gentle products that we sell is the Bee Balme by Tui. It is a miracle cream as far as I am concerned! It is very moisturising and gentle, which helps any chapped skin that I have, or just provides a good barrier for everyday use. This may help your eczema. In addition, if you can change to using a gentle soap like the Organic Baby Soap, and a bath oil or soak then that should help as well. I am from the USA and I have previously used a product by a company called Perfectly Pure. It is a Vitamin E stick - I can't find it on your website, why not? Unfortunately, Perfectly Pure and Perfectly Pure Skincare are two different companies. Perfectly Pure in the USA is owned by another large company, it seems as though they don't stock the Vitamin E stick any more. We did once find it on E Bay, so it is worth searching. However, this is not a product that we have ever stocked. |
